WoW Hunter Pets – The best hunter pets for World of Warcraft
When trying to figure out the best pet for your hunter in World of Warcraft, the answer has a lot to do with deciding the type of pet first. There are basically three different types of pets, so once you know which one you want, it will be easier to choose a specific WoW hunter pet.
So let’s look at the two main types of pets, either tank pets or DPS pets. There are other pets that are more general and this may be the way to go too if you have a lot of different things you want your pet to do.
For tanking, gorillas, boars, and bears make great pets. Boars and bears are probably the most common because they are much easier to eat. Also, for Tanking you can consider turtles, for their extra durability.
Need a pet for DPS? Cats are almost always the first choice if you need a good DPS pet for your hunter. The reason for this is that cats can learn many more different abilities than any other Hunter pet you could get, and they are also easy to feed and can deal a lot of damage to your enemies. In addition to all the cats available, you can also check out owls, spiders, and my personal favorite, birds of prey! Raptors will rip your enemy’s face off, so if you’re feeling particularly bloodthirsty, I’d go for that.
Now, for pets that can do a little bit of this and a little bit of that, when you want maximum flexibility for both tanking and DPS, you have a whole bunch of options. My favorite here is the Wolf. Partly it’s the fact that I just like how they look, and also that Fury Howl is a great skill. A variety of attack speeds will also be useful.
With so many pets to choose from, the way to help you narrow down your choices is to start thinking about what the pet eats and how easy will it be to maintain? Can you easily get their food, is it expensive? Can they eat anything or do they have a specialized diet? If you’re still a low-level hunter, you won’t want to spend your money on pet food! Also, stop and spend a minute thinking about how much effort it will take to level your pet, and can you get it to keep up with you while you level yourself? This will be a factor in deciding what pet to choose.
