If you love cats, you will love this book. If you love modern Cinderella stories where the reader sees what the characters don’t and you can’t turn the pages fast enough to know if they ever got out of their own way and let nature take its course.. Then you will love this story. If you’re a reader who simply enjoys a quick read filled with lovable, believable characters, you’ll love Talk To The Paw.
MacGyver is Jamie Snyder’s cat. Well, actually he is “the man in her life”. She trusts him, trusts him, and since she swears by real men as companions, MacGyver is her #1. MacGyver isn’t convinced that his guy is really done with men…he can smell her loneliness. Whether Jamie realizes it or not, MacGyver knows that his man needs companionship that he can’t provide. Surprisingly MacGyver notices their neighbor, David gives off the same smell as his Jamie. Could it be that they are both lonely and put off a scent that only the cat recognizes?
MacGyver (the TV character) might have been a top-notch, can-do, do-anything dude. But Macgyver the cat is a loyal, loving, capable cat who resorts to becoming a cat thief to help his human. Jamie’s neighbor David recently lost his wife, Clarissa, and despite the urging of his friends, he’s just not ready to get over his grief. He has a dog named Diogee who has no idea that his human is lonely. MacGyver seems to be the only one, human or pet, who recognizes how perfect Jamie and David can be together. All they need is a push. So the cat starts stealing David’s laundry…a sock here, a towel there. Jamie understands who the strange laundry belongs too, but sees David as just a friend. MacGyver is like “what’s wrong with these people?” “Why do people complicate something that is so natural in the animal world?”
Can Jamie and David see past their personal problems and see the big picture right in front of them? Or are they meant to complicate what should happen so naturally?
MacGyver the Cat will quickly win you over. You will quietly cheer for the people in the story to become as smart as the cat. His loyalty and dedication to Jamie is admirable and positively admirable. Talk To The Paw is a quick read that keeps you wrapped up in the story until the very last page.
I liked the story. Being a cat lover myself, with four of the adorable, aloof, highly intelligent fur babies at home, Talk To The Paw made me wonder if they smelled my feelings too. (They sure do!)
Enjoy reading,
RJ
