Mastiff stubbornness – how to deal with this problem
Training your mastiff can be difficult because of how stubborn a dog it can be. I know it was hard for my boy because he would always want to do his own thing and not what I wanted him to do. I know that once I figured out how to deal with this mastiff’s stubborn behavior, I was able to train him to the point where he would listen to me and do everything I told him. It is very good to train him up to this point because then I know he will listen to me in the most important moments. Here are some tips that can help you train your stubborn Mastiff.
The first tip that can help you the most is to make sure your dog knows you are the boss. I know this can be difficult, but the way I have found to do this is through an exercise where you sit in a chair with your Mastiff’s leash in your hand and they are attached to it.
Then you’ll stay in the chair, play a video game, read a book, pay bills, or something similar while they lay next to you. Then you’ll sit like that for about half an hour and only start counting the time after they’ve laid down and decided to sit there. I know that after five minutes my mastiff would lie down and fall asleep for the time being, so it was relatively easy.
