Jug Puppy – Tips for choosing the best food for my Jug puppy
1. Reading the dog food label is very important. There should be good protein, especially in the first 5 ingredients. Chicken meal is a good source of protein because it is a more concentrated form of protein than chicken itself. Catfish is a lean fish, containing a sufficient amount of protein and also essential oils.
2. The kana puppy needs good nutrition, especially in the first year of its life. Make sure vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are listed in the ingredients list. Many of the health concerns dog owners face today can be traced back to what they were fed in their early years.
3. Always remember… NO corn, wheat, gluten, dairy or soy. Corn can lead to obesity problems as they get older and has been linked to allergies in dogs. Even if the ingredient list says they are natural, be sure to read the ingredient list first before buying!!
4. Many commercial dog food companies have made it quite confusing when it comes to choosing which formula to feed our dogs and puppies. As long as the food is of high quality and approved for all stages of a dog’s life, there is no need to feed a puppy food.
5. Here’s another big tip… Don’t feed your dog produce!! By-products are worse ingredients and are added to many commercial puppy foods. This can include chicken feet, intestines, etc… Oh my… yes… you get the picture. If you see the word by product on the label… run!
6. Last but not least, look for food that has small bites that are easy to chew from your jug. Also try to find food that actually tastes good! A good way to do this is to find a company that provides samples so you don’t have to get a whole bag just to find out if your dog really likes it or not!
