Jose Mourinho as coach of Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho is one of the most respected coaches in Europe. This is not only because he knows his job very well, but because he is disciplined and would never take nonsense from anyone. He knows what he wants and demands it, not caring what people think of him, as long as what he needs helps him achieve the desired result.
Jose Mourinho is a pace setter; he is a father god, a disciplinarian and a charismatic coach whose results speak for him. He may not have been a footballer, but as a coach he was accomplished. He succeeded where others failed: winning several domestic titles and two Champions League titles (with FC Porto and Internazionale Milano).
One strength he has is that he knows how to use what he has to get the result he wants. He knows where he is deficient and what he needs to cure the deficiency. When he came to Chelsea FC for example, the club was in dire need of the Premier League title after failing to win it in the last 50 years. Mourinho came in, brought in players like Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Andrea Shevchenko, etc. and won the league back to back, breaking a 50-year curse. He also won the FA Cup, Carling Cup and Community Shield during his time at Chelsea.
No one gave him a chance to win the Champions League at Inter Milan. People thought that either Barcelona, Chelsea, Man United, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Olympique Lyonnais, Liverpool or Bayern Munich would win the league; but manager Mourinho proved them wrong, beating Chelsea and Barcelona convincingly along the way. He finally clinched the UEFA Champions League title, beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final.
Now that he has signed to coach Real Madrid for the next 4 seasons, I see him winning the Champions League that Marcello Lippi failed to win with the array of world class players in his arsenal. With players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul Gonzalez, Higuain, Guti and more. Jose Mourinho would have won several titles (domestic and continental) for the club if only the club management gave him the freedom to make his choices and determine the types of players to add to the squad. Being a highly respected coach who doesn’t take nonsense from the players, all the players would surely give him due respect and play the role assigned to them. As Real Madrid’s new manager, Jose Mourinho is set to make history once again as he prepares to deliver the Champions League title that has eluded them for nearly a decade.
