Internet Marketing Home Businesses Steps To Start – Step 6 Build Your First List
I admit I’m all about list building…it’s what I’m known for. “The money is in the list” is a phrase you may have heard me say over and over again. So it might surprise you to find that creating your first list comes at step #6! The truth is, all the steps before have prepared you for this point. This is where the fun begins and you will actually start to see how to make money online because it will start to become real!
Log in to the autoresponder service you subscribed to…if you haven’t already, or if you plan to manually reply to all your customers, it’s going to be really hard to keep up, okay?
I’ll go over the steps based on Ninja Responder and AWeber, the two services I find the easiest to use. If you chose another option, perhaps you already had an account with another service, then use this information as a guide, but obviously the steps and wording will be slightly different.
Look for Create and manage lists and click Create a new list.
Listing Description
When it comes to a listing description, it’s fine to keep this short….but your subscribers WILL see this, so if possible, make it descriptive, but keep it short. So if your list is for your dog training tips e-edition, you can call it Dog Training Tips.
List name
The list name is not unique to you, but must be different from any list created by any user on the system. The name is for your use – to help you keep your various lists correct – not for your clients to see, so feel free to abbreviate and add numbers if you need to make it unique and understandable to you.
Corporate branding
You can fill them in or leave them blank at this stage. Especially when people unsubscribe to see who they’re leaving. This is good because when they see the company name, it might make them remember why they subscribed to your list in the first place and maybe they won’t unsubscribe.
Reply Address
This must be a real email address. If you have an email address associated with your domain name, that’s perfect. If you don’t have one yet, use a personal email address. Many people like to use a Gmail account for example. Then enter the name you want the email to come from… I suggest you use your name, not “support” or “admin”. Make sure this is the “from/reply” address.
Check it out
You should have saved your work at each step and if you did everything correctly, you will now see your list in the drop down box at the top of the screen.
