Gospel Reggae – New exciting Christian Gospel Reggae genre

Being a Christian these days isn’t just about wearing uncomfortable clothes and saying Amen to everything. No, not anymore, these days modern Christians live a modern lifestyle. For example, I’m a gospel reggae DJ… read on to hear my story.

OK, so I was born and raised in the UK in a community that had a very strong Caribbean population, particularly Jamaicans. Although I am a hybrid of Irish and Scottish roots, my neighborhood had a very strong influence on my life and from a very early age I was in love with all things Jamaican, not least the sweet, sweet sounds of reggae.

Real reggae carries a real sense of class and vintage that, like wine, is more valuable the older it gets. Artists like the great Bob Marley, Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs have tracks that are simply legendary and will rock any dancehall.

This wonderful genre of music has been my passion for years. So it will come as no surprise to you to learn that when I became a Christian, the first thing I did was look for gospel reggae music.

In the mid nineties there wasn’t much choice, in fact I have to be honest and say some of the material released was pretty awful. However, in recent years a number of high-profile reggae artists have become Christians. This includes the likes of Papa San, Chevelle Franklin and Stitchie. In fact, I just heard that Sasha, a well-known Jamaican singer who has performed with the likes of Sean Paul, has now become a Christian and is releasing music.

So my passion turned into an obsession and now I enjoy a worldwide reputation as a specialist DJ playing only Gospel Reggae. I have my own radio show and I’m part of Gospel Reggae Sound called Soulcure… life is good.

Gospel Reggae has come a long way these days, in fact there are so many new albums out, even an addict like me struggles to keep up. There are now specialist websites, including a number of online web stores, that stock literally thousands of the latest gospel reggae and gospel dancehall music. You can buy singles as downloads and hard copy CDs. In addition to this, the same can be found in major online stores like Amazon and iTunes.

I know that many people are very interested in the music and would like to hear it.
