A supernatural Christmas miracle caught on tape
A supernatural Christmas miracle caught on tape
With the dominance of the industry today, it’s hard to believe that just a few years ago Apple was almost put out of business in one of the most controversial moments in recent tech history.
In the early 1980s, Apple dominated the personal computer business until IBM came up with a new idea. The plan was simple; allowed other companies to clone their machines, so IBM-compatible computers flooded the market and overtook Apple by sheer volume.
IBM’s plan worked and eventually even Apple was forced to start making processors compatible with their biggest competition.
Then, in a famous move, IBM used its momentum to do the unthinkable, decide to make a new machine that wasn’t compatible with anyone and put everyone out of business.
Surprisingly, his new machine, the PS/2, was not even compatible with previous IBM equipment.
Loyal customers felt cheated and left, and the clone makers banned themselves from continuing to make the old machines all together, until this time it was IBM who was forced to cooperate with the competition and once again restart production of their personal computers, while completely abandoned PS/ 2.
It is from the cruel business world that we get such clichés as: “It’s a dog-eat-dog world” and “Nice guys finish last.”
In fact, much of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol forces the audience to examine the consequences of a selfish and self-centered life that exploits others to gain supremacy.
But sometimes there’s a story that comes along at just the right time to restore our faith in the message and wonder of Christmas.
Enter Dwayne Miller, a nondescript preacher who has lost his voice.
At the time, doctors believed that a severe infection was the cause of the permanent damage to his vocal cords. Miller was forced to leave the ministry and was unable to find another job.
Sales were out of the question and teaching was out of the question as his voice was reduced to a hoarse whisper. Feeling isolated and abandoned, Miller was heartbroken as his wife went to work to support the family.
Then one day, by chance some might say, Miller was asked to substitute teach a Sunday school class at the last minute. A special microphone had to be provided so that the little remaining muffled and hoarse voice could be heard, something which the doctors assured him would disappear completely in a short time.
Yet this class was different, the only one enrolled that day and with less than two hundred people in attendance.
His lesson? Read from Psalm 103 and discuss the fact that God does not always heal the sick. And at that very moment, in front of a small group of people, a miracle happened and everything was caught on tape. Incredibly, Dwayne’s voice was miraculously restored.
You can hear about the amazing moment on Duane’s site, http://www.nuvoice.org. And although it will take less than two minutes to listen, the effect can last a lifetime.
